Cleaned up several Shimano Tekota fishing reels over the past few months. All of them used primarily in saltwater for salmon trolling. 400-800 all have strong smooth drags, solid frames, off set handle and nice knob. From the looks of these they resist corrosion well given basic post fishing maintenance. After breaking them down it was obvious the drags had been well used and ready for replacement. New Carbon drags got greased with Cal’s and spool bearings oiled with TSI 321. The other bearing was greased for saltwater use. All in all I would say its a solid series of reels that stand up to heavy use in the saltwater pretty well. A side note, the 800 is a beast.
